Current Traffic Situation and Important Customer Information

We would like to provide you with a regular update on the current and upcoming events affecting our rail operations and the connected seaport terminals.

Track Closures & Service Disruptions

Repair work following a trackbed landslide, including a full line closure, began on April 7 and is expected to last until April 30. All trains are being rerouted via Osnabrück, resulting in delays of 2 to 5 hours. This affects our entire network.

On top of that, several additional incidents in the Northern region are causing further disruption:

  • Overhead line failure between Hannover and Hamburg (near Garße) – route closed.
  • Line closure between Hamburg and Bremen due to new embankment construction.
  • Traffic between Hannover and Hamburg only possible via Celle – which has also been fully closed since last night.
  • A disabled train is blocking one of the detour routes.
  • Remaining alternative routes are now fully overloaded.
  • A train from another rail operator was directed onto a powerless section near Bremerhaven, causing our trains to stop short of the port.
  • Around 70 trains headed to Hamburg or Bremerhaven are currently waiting on the Northern network for clearance.
  • These disruptions have effectively cut off the ports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven from the rail network.
  • Additional shunting delays in Hamburg due to overloaded infrastructure.
  • In the South, a short-notice construction site between Plattling and Passau is causing more delays.

Impact on Our Network

  • Currently, no train is running on schedule.
  • Multiple train cancellations are affecting both our national and international network.
  • Seaport and inland terminals are experiencing significant delays.
  • Network stability and punctuality are severely impacted.

We are doing everything we can to minimize the impact on your bookings. Our dispatch team will continue to provide case-specific updates for any affected shipments.

Please check the availability of your loading units before delivery to seaport or inland terminals, and follow our booking information and notifications closely.

Further Work in May

Following the current trackbed repairs, additional overhead line work is scheduled through May 12, which will lead to further significant delays.
